August & September IMPACT

Between our August Gala and some record numbers in September, our team barely had time to breath. Check out a summary below.

The crew who made it happen!

These amazing volunteers worked in 100°+ weather to get her moved in.

A home of her own!
In August, one of our recent graduates bought her first home. She had lived with her parents for the last 10 years, and her goal was complete independence. After graduating the Side-by-Side Program in April, she continued to hone the skills she learned, increasing her stability in planning, finances, and commitments. These three things allowed her to hit the biggest goal of all: purchasing a town home and moving in! We had an amazing team of volunteers who helped her move in.

Notable Numbers from the last two months:

  • 16 women completed Re:New Self-Worth in September. That's our class on identity and worth. On the final night, each woman shredded the lies she had picked up and lived by… until now.

  • 16 NEW women signed up for Re:New Emotional Health, which is taught by one of 431's own graduates.

  • 842 one-on-one sessions so far this year, on safe relationships, budgeting, career coaching, self-worth, friendships, housing, healthy living, and more.

  • 136 attendances at 12 opportunities increased our overall average class size.

  • 3 Safety Plan meetings in September. These help a woman plan how to leave abuse safely, before she's in immediate danger and needs a shelter.

  • 4 women started new careers in September.

  • 3 women were invited into Side-by-Side, our most intensive program, where each woman is paired with a trained mentor.

  • RECORD numbers of class attendance, new requests for help, and overall women served in September.

The part that's yours

More women are coming to 431 than ever before. That growth is the answer to our prayers, and it has also outgrown our budget.

Each month, our monthly partners give $8,000, and local businesses sponsor our classes with another $5,000. That covers over half of what it takes to serve women well, and one-time gifts usually carry the rest. This month, record intakes, childcare needs, and more staff hours to meet safety needs raised the gap.

A new monthly donation of $300 covers a Side-by-Side spot: her mentor match, advocate time, one-on-one sessions, and the same support our graduate had on her way to independence.

Will you help cover the gap?
